Heater Body Suit — Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I quietly and quickly get out of a Heater Body Suit with deer up close?

Click here to see more suits in action

There are two commonly used tactics:

a) Bring your hands out the top of the suit in a "praying" fashion, spread your hands and the zipper will quietly fall down. This is also a great tactic to use if a quick exit is needed.

b) The most common and often used tactic needs little detectable movement and is dead quiet.

Once unzipped, hook left elbow outside suit while grabbing Heater Body Suit just below your elbow. Bring left elbow further out and the suit slips off of your left shoulder. Bring right elbow out past zipper and elbow the suit off your right shoulder (reverse tactic for left-handers).

2. How do I size my Heater Body Suit?

Use your height and weight per our chart on our Pricing & Ordering page. We size our suits assuming you will be wearing coat, bib, and pac boots! Stay in your size category on our chart.

3. What materials do you use in the Heater Body Suit?

All Heater Body Suits for 2009 incorporate a windstopper membrane and have
DWR (Durable Water Repellant) aplied to the outer cloth.

Outer Camo Shell
  • Outer shell is "Ultra Quiet" 5 oz. Polyester Tricot camo cloth.
  • Brushed Polyester Tricot "Noise Suppressor" over wind barrier.
  • Wind barrier membrane by DuPont.
  • U-300 Ultra Thinsulate Insulation
  • Brushed Polyester "Ultra Quiet" inner lining.
4. Can I wash the Heater Body Suit in a residential wash machine?

Yes, but due to the size of the suit, we don't recommend using apartment-sized washers especially in the larger size units.

**Turn the suit inside out for washing.**

5. Drying the Heater Body Suit?

We recommend line drying. Drying on the light or gentle cycle will work on windproof suits.Do not dry water-resistant suits in a dryer. It can damage the water-proof membrane.

6. How is the safety strap used with the Heater Body Suit?

We ship a safety harness with each suit. This strap feeds out the base of the neck, so it does not interfere with the suit's function.
  1. Climb Tree
  2. Attach safety strap to tree
  3. Unpack and climb into your Heater Body Suit

*With this or a similar style safety strap, you are protected while hunting or getting into or out of your Heater Body Suit.

7. Are there batteries in the Heater Body Suit? How does it keep me warmer than conventional clothing?

No, no batteries are used! The reason you stay warm and we offer the "You Stay Warm or Your Money Back" guarantee is the containment concept. Simply put, crawl in a sleeping bag with all your clothes on and you will stay warm. Put a pair of mittens on versus gloves and see which is warmer. All extremities and heat are trapped in the bag of warm air. We simply tailored the Heater Body Suit to be safer, quieter, and usable for the hunter. Buy it, wear it, and if you get cold, we'll give you your money back. From Texas to Saskatchewan - the warranty applies. Now ask yourself, how many other clothing companies say this? Or, as important, would Heater Clothing still be in business if people were sending suits back?
